Olathe engineering firm celebrates 50 years
Terracon, one of the area’s larger engineering firms, celebrated its 50th anniversary this week. The firm, headquartered in Olathe, was founded April 22, 1965, as a small engineering firm, Soil Testing Services of Iowa.
Terracon was renamed and moved to the Kansas City area in 1980. The employee-owned firm now has more than 150 offices and 3,400 employees including engineers, scientists and technicians. It ranks No. 35 in current Engineering News-Record’s Top 500 Design Firms ranking and has risen nearly 30 spots in the past 10 years.
Terracon is known for providing environmental, facilities, geotechnical and materials services.
“This anniversary is about honoring our clients who have put their trust in us,” said David Gaboury, president and CEO, “and our employees who work hard every day to give back to their communities. We’re just getting started and are excited about the next 50 years.”
