AIG expects to add 300 jobs in Olathe
State, city and chamber officials gathered Monday for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the American International Group contact center in Olathe, which is expected to accommodate about 300 new employees.
AIG received state and city incentives to locate in a 55-acre business park that is under development by Karbank Development Co. The company is taking 60,000 square feet in the facility near Interstate 35 and 119th Street.
Gov. Sam Brownback and AIG president Peter Hancock joined representatives from the University of Kansas at the event.
“By expanding its operations in Olathe and creating hundreds of new jobs in our state, AIG is demonstrating that the Kansas business environment is one of the best in the country,” said Brownback.
Hancock said AIG “is committed to adding 300 new jobs in Olathe by end of 2015, recognizing the crucial role that the people in our operations here play in the broader success of AIG.”
The company already employs more than 600 workers in Olathe. The event recognized an expanded AIG presence in Olathe. The center provides claims and policy servicing operations nationally and internationally.
The expanded center has a research partnership with the KU School of Business to provide business and management training and career opportunities for students and alumni.
