Overland Park Regional Medical Center opens an emergency room in Olathe

Overland Park Regional Medical Center has opened an around-the-clock, seven-day-a-week emergency room in Olathe.

The freestanding facility at 13505 S. Alden St. is in front of Academy Sports and a Wal-Mart store. It began accepting patients Wednesday.

The emergency room is staffed by emergency physicians, a nursing team and administrative staff.

The 10,000-square-foot full-service center includes a radiology department, a trauma room, a CT scanner, an MRI, and a laboratory for blood and other tests. If hospitalization is required, the staff will arrange for patient transfers.

Overland Park Regional is part of HCA Midwest Health.
