Kansas City wage protest set for noon today
Fast-food workers organized under the “Fight for $15” movement are scheduled to rally at noon today in front of a McDonald’s restaurant at 3741 Broadway.
The protest will focus on the company’s announcement that it will raise wages in its corporate-owned stores by $1 an hour over the prevailing minimum wage. Most McDonald’s workers are in franchise operations not specifically covered by the announcement. Organizers say the company’s action doesn’t go far enough.
Nationally, protests are planned in about 200 U.S. cities on April 15.
