Kansas City Star names Tony Berg its new vice president of advertising
Tony Berg has been named vice president of advertising for The Kansas City Star Media Co. His appointment is effective April 6.
Berg, 37, joins The Star from The Wichita Eagle, where he has been vice president of advertising since September 2012. Both companies are part of the McClatchy Co.
“Tony is a strong digital leader who focuses on getting positive results in partnership with great people,” said Mi-Ai Parrish, president and publisher of The Star. “He’s a fantastic problem solver who is very engaged in the community.”
Before joining The Eagle, Berg had been with The Arizona Republic in Phoenix and The Lawrence Journal-World. He was born in Emporia, Kan., and graduated from the William Allen White School of Journalism at the University of Kansas.
“I’m very excited to get up there and represent The Star’s audience,” Berg said.
Berg and his wife, Audrey, and their two children, Archer and Wyatt, have “a ton of family” in the Kansas City area, Berg said.
He succeeds Julie Terry, who joined The Star in 1994 and had been the vice president of advertising since May 2013.
