Sprint expands rural roaming network
Sprint Corp. on Friday announced the addition of 15 new rural and regional wireless providers to its high-speed roaming program.
The program allows Sprint and its smaller-market partners to use each other’s networks for roaming at a lower cost. In addition, the program allows Sprint customers the ability to roam on participating carriers’ networks.
The 15 carriers provide coverage in 12 states. The new partners include Pioneer Cellular, which serves parts of Kansas and Oklahoma.
With the new agreements, a total of 27 carriers covering more than 565,000 square miles and a population area of more than 38 million people have entered into the roaming program, Sprint said.
