Amazon is working to fill about 1,000 warehouse jobs in the Kansas City area and has scheduled two job fairs this week to accept applications.

The first hiring event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, at McKinley Elementary School, 1301 Armstrong, Kansas City, Kan.

The second job fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Frank Rushton Elementary School, 2605 W. 43rd Ave., Kansas City, Kan.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. They must be able to read and take direction in English.

Other requirements include the ability to lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk for up to 12 hours, and be able to push, pull, squat, bend and reach.

Work schedules may be flexible and may call for overtime.
