Independence woman pleads guilty to tax fraud
An Independence business owner has pleaded guilty in federal court to filing a false income tax return.
Peggy Hennon, the owner of Peggy’s Tow, allegedly failed to report more than $192,000 in business income for the 2007 tax year, according to a statement this week from the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Western District of Missouri.
Hennon’s business purchased vehicles as scrap and sold them to scrap yards in the Kansas City area. Federal prosecutors alleged she understated gross receipts for her business.
A sentencing hearing has not yet been set.
