Apple plans March 9 event: Is it time for the Apple Watch?
Apple sent out a typically mysterious invitation to an event March 9 in San Francisco, offering nothing but a colorful graphic and the tagline “Spring forward,” a reference to the switch to daylight saving time the day before.
The reference to time suggests that Apple will discuss its smartwatch, which the company plans to launch in April. The gadget was introduced last fall at the same time as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but few people have had the chance to get their hands on one.
The last time Apple held an event in March, it was to show off the third iteration of the iPad, and there also have been rumors that Apple has been developing a larger iPad aimed at the enterprise market. That March 2012 iPad unveiling also introduced an updated Apple TV, and that offering has not been updated since.
