A big new data storage and information management center is taking shape in Manassas, Va., with the help of several Kansas City-based companies.

Iron Mountain Inc., has chosen the Kansas City real estate firm of Kessinger/Hunter & Co. to be its development partner on a 150,000-square-foot data center, the first building planned on an 83-acre data center campus.

Several other Kansas City organizations are involved in the development, including JE Dunn Construction Group and Burns & McDonnell Engineering. In addition, UMB Bank provided building financing, and Bank of Blue Valley provided land infrastructure financing.

The new data center is expected to open in summer 2017.

Kessinger/Hunter officials Chuck Hunter, John DeHardt and Kevin Curtin are overseeing the project.
