Donated food, hygiene supplies and tarps bound for storm-ravaged Haiti came together near Kansas City over the weekend for their journey south.

BNSF Railway loaded 45 shipping containers of goods onto a train at Logistics Park in Edgerton, Kan., on Saturday. The donations had been collected by Convoy of Hope and Mission of Hope Haiti and were packed into containers in Springfield, Mo.

The containers were trucked to Edgerton, where BNSF took charge.

It handed off the load to CSX Corp. in Birmingham, Ala., and the Florida East Coast Railway was to take it to a port to set sail Friday.
