H&R Block hires accounting services expert with an eye on CPA firms

H&R Block Inc. has hired an accounting services consultant with an eye on CPA firms that may have an interest in becoming Block franchises.

The Kansas City-based tax preparation firm said it hired Jennifer Katrulya as its director of accounting operations. She will continue to run her consulting firm called BMRG Advisory Services. It helps certified public accountants manage their businesses.

Block’s aim is to develop its offering of bookkeeping, payroll, tax and other services to small businesses.

An announcement said CPA firms that work with BMRG’s programs would have an opportunity to sell their business or become an H&R Block franchise.
