Crown Media Holdings on Friday reported higher fourth-quarter revenues and profits, thanks partly to a double-digit increase in advertising sales.

The cable television company, whose majority owner is Kansas City-based Hallmark Cards, earned $51.6 million in the three months that ended Dec. 31. That’s nearly twice as much as the $26.7 million the company earned in the final quarter of 2013.

Revenue climbed to $134.2 million in the final quarter last year, up from 13 percent from $118.4 million in the same period in 2013.

Crown Media, which operates the Hallmark Channel and other programming, said advertising revenue increased 14 percent to $111.1 million in the quarter from 2013’s fourth quarter.

For the year, Crown Media earned $94.5 million, up from $67.7 million in 2013.
