Woman found shot in alley near Kansas City police station dies from injuries
A woman who was shot over the weekend near the Kansas City Police Department’s East Patrol Division Station died Tuesday, police said.
The woman was identified as Kyrstin Lickhart, 27, said Sgt. Phil DiMartino, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.
A person of interest was taken into custody in the shooting, he said.
Police were called to the area of 26th Street and Prospect Avenue, near the police station, shortly after midnight on Sunday on a reported shooting and found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds in a nearby alley, DiMartino said. The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and police began to process the scene.
Investigators learned on Tuesday that Lickhart had died from her injuries, and homicide detectives took over the case, DiMartino said.
