Man dies after being found shot inside a vehicle over the weekend in Raytown
A 75-year-old man died after he was found shot in a vehicle along East Gregory Boulevard in Raytown Saturday afternoon, police said.
Raytown police said the man, who was identified Monday as Robert Pitts, of Kansas City, was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
Police received multiple calls from residents in the area of East Gregory Boulevard and Blue Ridge Boulevard about shots being fired around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, said Captain Dyon Harper with the Raytown Police Department. Police were also notified about a man and a vehicle that had been found shot in the area of the U.S. Bank branch at 9063 East Gregory Boulevard, he said.
Responding officers found Pitts, who had been shot, inside a vehicle on East Gregory Boulevard. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

The killing was Raytown’s first reported homicide of 2025, according to data tracked by The Star.
Residents of homes along East Gregory Boulevard in the area told The Star they heard a series of shots Saturday afternoon.
Kenji Bashaw was lounging with his dogs in his living room Saturday afternoon when he heard the distinctive sounds he immediately recognized as gunfire outside. He jumped off the couch and went to the floor until the moment passed.
He reviewed a recording from a Ring camera in his living room, and it captured the sounds of six shots, he said.
