Family mourns Lee’s Summit teen killed in Kansas City crash over the weekend
Landon M. Gregory, 17, of Lee’s Summit was one of two teens killed in a crash Saturday in Kansas City.
Gregory died after the vehicle he was a passenger in crashed into a tree and overturned, police said.
His family started a GoFundMe to help support their needs in the aftermath of the tragic loss. As of Tuesday morning, the online fundraiser had nearly $13,000 in donations.
“Landon meant a lot to so many people and will be missed by all,” his family wrote on the fundraising page.
Gregory was in the vehicle at the time of the high speed crash shortly after 2:30 a.m. at 155th Street and North Madison Street, Kansas City police said at the time.
Cayden M. S. Johnson, 18, of Greenwood, was driving and was also killed in the crash. Johnson became a new father a couple weeks before the crash.
The deaths of Johnson and Gregory mark the third and fourth fatalities from vehicle crashes this year.
Update: The story was updated to reflect that Johnson was driving the vehicle and that Gregory was a passenger at the time of the crash after Gregory’s family contacted The Star with updated information from police.
