Bicyclist, 15, killed in collision with U.S. Postal Service vehicle in Kansas City

A 15-year-old bicyclist died Wednesday in a collision with a U.S. Postal Service vehicle in Kansas City, police said.

Investigators determined the crash occurred about 10 a.m. when the bicyclist emerged from an alleyway as the vehicle was westbound on East 20th Street near Denver Avenue, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

The teenager lost control of the bicycle and fell into the path of the vehicle, police said.

The Postal Service employee stopped at the scene and was released pending further investigation.

A Kansas City resident, the teenager died after he was taken to a hospital. He has not been publicly identified.
