Every Celebrity cruise ship has a martini bar, but it is not quite what a traditional drinker might expect. Some of them are even built from ice.

TravelHost's Come Cruise With Me Editor in Chief Daniel Kline and his travel agent partner, Postcard Travel Planning's Dennis Post, are aboard Celebrity Beyond, and they stopped by one of the most popular spots on the ship to explain what the Martini Bar actually is, why it draws a crowd, and a couple of things worth knowing before you go.

Find out what makes the Martini Bar one of Celebrity Beyond's most popular spots

Transcript:

Dan Kline: Hey there, cruisers, Dan and Dennis, your travel hosts. We are on Celebrity Beyond and we're sitting- It's technically part of the Martini Bar.

Dennis Post: Right.

Kline: It's sort of like the, the ledge above it, the balcony above it.

Post: Yeah.

Kline: Yeah, but there are the menus. In theory, someone will come wait on us. That has not happened yet.

But what is the Martini Bar? So the Martini Bar is on most Celebrity ships, Dennis. Are there a few it's not on?

Post: Yeah. I think it's on every one.

Kline: Probably on every ship.

Post: Yeah, every one.

Kline: And on the older ships it's actually an ice bar, and that's kind of cool. On the Edge class ships, it's a round bar.

It's the center of the ship. It's on the third floor, and you overlook it pretty much from every open space, and it is exactly what it sounds like. It is a martini bar. Dennis, why don't you explain the menu a little bit?

Post: Yeah, the menu's very distinct. It's very good drinks and they're very specific to this bar, and the bartenders, really good

Kline: So, they're not all martinis in the traditional sense, because as a traditional old man, I would say a martini is gin or vodka and very little else. There's a little vermouth, you know, maybe you get an olive, maybe you get a lime, but that's it. Now, this is gonna have your espresso martinis, your colorful martinis.

They'll serve you a Manhattan in a martini glass and call it a martini. So it's basically elegant mixed drinks served in martini glasses. And Dennis, there's also a bit of a show sometimes.

Post: Right. So in the evening, twice every evening they do a show. The bartenders, they practice on throwing the cups and throwing the bottles, catching them, doing some fancy stuff to music, and it's really, really good. I mean-

Kline: It's flair bartending. But I'll give you two pieces of advice if you're gonna come here. One, it is served in a martini glass and you are on a moving cruise ship. Be careful. If you're drinking something that isn't clear liquor, it is very easy to spill on yourself, even when you're not drunk.

The second one is, this is a very crowded bar.

Post: Yeah.

Kline: So you're gonna wanna get here early. If you're gonna go to the show, you wanna ask what time it is and make sure you have a seat. Or sit where we are, in sort of the peripheral area, where you can see it, you can order, but you don't have to deal with a very crowded bar. One of the most popular spots on any Celebrity cruise ship.

Post: It is.

Kline: I am Dan, he is Dennis. Come cruise with us soon.
