A local Kansas City pizzeria has made the Food Network’s list of 50 best slices to try around the country.

Waldo Pizza was selected as the slice to try in Missouri. They were highlighted for their all-you-can-eat lunch buffet and for being one of the few places in where guests can order St. Louis-style pizza, known for their paper-thing crusts and Provel cheese.

Located in both Waldo and Overland Park, Waldo Pizza has been serving pizzas, salads, sandwiches and pasta to hungry Kansas Citians for more than 30 years.

W. VinZant Restaurants acquired the local eatery in 2024 from owner Steve Kingery. An employee since 2000, Kingery bought Waldo Pizza in 2020 from Phil Bourne, who had owned the pizzeria since 1993. It opened in 1988 at 7433 Broadway St.

This is not their first time ranking on a national list either. In 2020, Mashed.com, a food news and recipe website, put Waldo Pizza on its new “The Best Pizza Place in Every State” list.
