This Johnson County restaurant was named one of the top romantic restaurants in the U.S.
You don’t have to wait until Valentine Day’s next year to try one of the most romantic restaurants in the United States, according to OpenTable.
Earlier in 2024, the restaurant review site released its list of the top 100 romantic restaurants in the country, and one of them has called Prairie Village home since 2001.
Café Provence, 3936 W. 69th Terrace, was included on OpenTable’s 2024 list. The review site analyzed over 12 million reviews and metrics to find the top restaurants that had diners swooning.
It’s not the first time the Kansas City area restaurant was featured on an OpenTable top 100 list, as they were named one of the top restaurants in the country multiple times, most recently in 2021. They were also one of OpenTable’s most romantic restaurants from 2018 to 2020.
The Quillec family runs the French restaurant and works with ”local farmers, butchers, and artisanal food purveyors to create distinct, delicious, comforting food that combines the fantastic culinary resources of the Midwest with classic French tradition,” the restaurant’s website says.
Items on Café Provence’s menu include:
Magret de Canard: D’artagnan rohan duck breast, sweet potato ginger puree, orange bigarade sauce and Brussels sprouts ($40)
Pavé de Saumon aux Essences d’Automne: Pan-seared salmon, butternut squash and apple purée, lentil, shredded Brussel sprouts, apple cider gastrique and crispy parsnip ($34)
Quiche Lorraine: Jambon de Paris, onion, gruyere cheese and bacon quiche, haricot vert and carrot ($15)

The restaurant has a 4.9/5 star rating with more than 4,500 reviews on OpenTable.
“For lunch, we arrived at 11 am as the first patrons in the restaurant. Service was superb as well as friendly,” one review on Monday, Dec. 9, said. “Food did not disappoint. In fact, the entrees were better than ever.”
“They stick to what they do best, and as a result have an incredible ability to produce fine meals at an affordable price. We will go back again, and again,” said another review on Saturday, Nov. 30.
“Went to Cafe Provence for our Anniversary, it was wonderful! The food, drinks, customer service, and timing of the courses were excellent! We really enjoyed the escargots, French onion soup, and the veal scaloppini was the best we’ve ever had. Highly recommend,” an Oct. 28 review said.
