This Johnson County restaurant has the most popular Italian dish in Kansas, Yelp says
Plate Italiano Moderno has landed on Yelp’s list of most popular pasta dishes in every state.
The review site based its ranking system on Yelp Elite reviewers’ commentary to determine that Plate’s bolognese was the most popular Italian dish in Kansas.
Plate opened in 2017 at the corner of 62nd and Oak streets in Kansas City. After a fire, it relocated to its Brookside location at 701 E. 63rd St.
Its Leawood location opened in 2022 at 11655 Ash St. in Park Place.
Todd Muth, a manager for the Leawood restaurant, said the bolognese is a customer favorite.
The bolognese is rigatoni pasta served with pancetta braised beef, tomatoes, grana padano and thyme. Another popular menu item is Plate’s pappardelle with pork shoulder ragout and pecorino romano.
The restaurant also offers bruschetta, steak, salads and more.
“Certainly we believe that we bring something unique to the landscape,” Muth said. “All our pastas are made fresh right here.”
Plate’s Chef Christian Joseph is planning to open Plate Pizzeria next year in the Northland at 8630 N.W. Prairie View Road.
It will offer Neapolitan-style pizza, gelato and espresso.
