Starlight Theatre’s outdoor season is coming to a close, but the winter season is already looking full.

In a partnership with the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Starlight Theatre is bringing “Monet & Friends Alive, Life, Light & Color” to the Cohen Community Stage House. If you saw “Van Gogh Alive,” in 2021 and earlier this year, this new exhibit will be another similar multisensory experience.

The exhibit will be on display starting Nov. 1 and will run through Dec. 31. Tickets are on sale now at the following prices:

  • Adult tickets: $45.00

  • Seniors ages 65 and up: $38.00

  • Military personnel with a valid ID: $38.00

  • Students ages 13 and up with a valid ID: $30.00

  • Children ages 5-12: $20.00

You can also get tickets by calling 816-363-7827 or by visiting the ticket office at 4600 Starlight Road.

Discounted prices for groups of 10 or more are available by calling 816-997-1137 or emailing groups@kcstarlight.com.

WHAT AM I GOING TO SEE?

Starlight Theatre is transforming the stage to celebrate French Impressionist art, giving viewers the opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of 19th-century Europe.

It will feature projections of famous paintings by Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas and other Impressionist artists from this time.

It’s a large-scale experience that dives into Impressionism and brings the art to life. Artwork from 19th-century Europe will be displayed on an unprecedented scale, giving you access to new angles and perspectives of the art.

You’ll also be able to look at the artists’ inspirations through photos and videos.

“With the success of Van Gogh Alive last year, it was a no-brainer to bring back another exciting, multi-sensory experience to Starlight,” Rich Baker, CEO of Starlight, said in a statement. “Impressionism remains one of the most fascinating and well-loved movements in the history of modern art, and we’re excited to partner with the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art once again for this fantastic exhibition.”

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW?

Visitors will enter the exhibit in 20-minute increments. For example, if you bought a ticket for 1 p.m., you’ll be able to enter between 1 p.m. and 1:20 p.m. Starlight Theatre encourages visitors to show up on time since there’s a limit on how many people can enter the exhibit during these time intervals.

Parking is free, and you’ll be able to park in the lots adjacent to the Kansas City Zoo. The closest lot is on Starlight Theatre’s east side.

Starlight Theatre anticipates visitors spending between 60 to 90 minutes inside the exhibit, but your visit is self-paced, so take as much time as you need. You can also take photos while inside the exhibit.
