Haven’t gone? Better Gogh: Art exhibit extended for final time in Kansas City

An interactive art exhibit celebrating the works of impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh will remain on display at Kansas City’s Starlight Theatre through the end of January.

The exhibit, called “Van Gogh Alive,” was installed in late October and has been welcomed by patrons and critics enough to merit an extension, a spokeswoman for the theater said in a press release Wednesday. It will now be available through Jan. 29, an extension of a previous extension.

The show has drawn thousands from around Kansas City in recent months. Assembled by Grande Experiences, the exhibit is billed as a “vibrant symphony of light, color, sound and fragrance” that allows viewers to step inside the famous artworks. Placed on Starlight’s 12,000-square-foot stage, the paintings are displayed through a high-definition projector in large scale.

The Starlight show is the first of two in Kansas City showcasing an immersive van Gogh experience. The other, “Immersive Van Gogh,” is scheduled to be on display in February after a delay.

Tickets for “Van Gogh Alive” are still available through Starlight. They can be purchased by visiting the theater’s website, calling the box office at 816-363-7687 or by visiting the venue at 4600 Starlight Road in Kansas City.
