This group is returning to historic Kansas City theater that was ravaged by fire

The Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre will return to its home base, the Warwick Theatre, next week for its first production there since a fire badly damaged the historic venue 19 months ago.

The MET will open its 2025-26 season with the Kansas City premiere of “Mother’s Daughter” on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Warwick.

Nine fire trucks fought an early-morning fire Feb. 7, 2024, that burned across three floors, destroying the MET offices and costume area. The 22-year-old theater company proceeded with an abbreviated 2024-25 season at alternative venues.

The Warwick reopened this summer with Padgett Productions’ “Evil Dead: The Musical” running July 31-Aug. 23.
