Tech N9ne drops Kansas City’s anthem for 2026 FIFA World Cup. Listen now
Kansas City hip-hop artist Tech N9ne is no stranger to thinking outside the box when it comes to how to apply his musical skills. The local rapper is again making his mark on the global stage as he unveils the official Sonic ID for the 2026 FIFA World Cup games in Kansas City today.
The collaboration between popular artists like Tech and FIFA will be the first time in the tournaments history to feature a city host-specific Sonic ID. The concept behind the short audio clip was designed to highlight the unique cultural sounds of each of the 16 host cities spanning from Canada, Mexico and the United States.
“The project brings together some of the most talented and influential producers from across the host cities, each contributing their unique sound to create a sonic tapestry that reflects the spirit of their hometowns,” KC2026, which is responsible for FIFA World Cup 26 planning in KC, said in a release announcing today’s Kansas City Sonic ID launch.
Tech N9ne, whose real name is Aaron Yates, is a Kansas City native and co-founder of the independent record label Strange Music and the the sole artist to contribute a track with lyrics for the KC Sonic ID release.
The track, entitled “Kansas City Theme x FIFA World Cup 26,” is yet another example of Tech N9ne using his musical prowess and iconic hip-hop sound to create a buzz around the city. Kansas City is quite familiar with Tech’s hit song ‘Red Kingdom’ which quickly became the Kansas City Chief’s team anthem, often played at Arrowhead Stadium. That high energy anthem has been performed live during games and Super Bowl rallies since 2019.
“I was so honored to be the one who KC2026 called on to do the Kansas City remix,” Tech N9ne was quoted saying in the release. “The message I’d like for people to take away from this Sonic ID is that togetherness is power, and with that, we can work our way to victory.”
The Sonic ID and accompanying visuals will be accessible across various platforms such as Instagram, X, YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, Deezer, Amazon Music. The tracks are also slated to be showcased in stadiums at the FIFA Fan Festival.
