Things to do in Kansas City: Mardi Gras celebrations, Louis Tomlinson and giant puppets

Fat Tuesday this year is March 1, but Kansas City can celebrate a few days early.

The big event will be the Mardi Gras Party, 7-10 p.m. Feb. 26, with live music, street performers and more at the bars and entertainment venues of Kansas City Live! Tickets ($40-$65) are available at powerandlightdistrict.com.

The Ship in the West Bottoms will provide a smaller celebration — the KC Carnival Ball, 8 p.m. Feb. 26, featuring Mardi Gras krewes, music, food and drink. Tickets ($40-$50) are available at theshipkc.com.
