Asking what business wants from health care reform is a lot like asking which religion or which political candidate is best. Some businesses would be delighted to end the current employment-based system, which serves about 170 million Americans. It’s a costly administrative headache.
Dear Diversity Diva: I don’t eat meat for certain personal and spiritual reasons. While I haven’t talked directly to my supervisor about this, I feel she goes out of her way to order things like barbecue and meat pizza for lunch meetings. How should I handle this? — Mad About Meat Dear Mad: Generally speaking, your boss doesn’t have to take into account the individual preferences of every employee for something the company is paying for. But if the meetings are mandatory and/or anyone has a significant food allergy, your boss probably should give some consideration to the issue.
