Former baseball star Chipper Jones apologizes for tweet saying Sandy Hook massacre was a hoax

I’m not really sure where to begin with this, but here is a tweet from Friday that former Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones has wisely deleted.

Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., is where a gunman murdered 20 children and six staff members on Dec. 14, 2012. That happened, but for some reason there are a few people who believe it was a hoax.

On Saturday, Jones finally apologized:

Naturally, when you tweet something as egregious as this, you’re going to get hammered on social media. That was the case Friday night.
