For Pete's Sake

Just about everyone loves that Drew Butera hair flip

We’re nearing the one year anniversary of the one of the most notable trades in Royals history.

On May 7, 2015, the Royals acquired catcher Drew Butera in a trade with the Los Angeles Angels. While Butera has just 109 plate appearances (including the postseason), he clearly has the best celebration once he gets a hit.

All the Royals players do something to acknowledge to their teammates that they reached safely. For Butera, it’s the hair flip...

Royals fans, naturally, loved to see Butera hit a couple of doubles in the Royals’ 6-1 win over Baltimore. The hair flip is just the icing on the cake.

If you watched the video above, you know Butera said after the game that he does the hair flip at the behest of fellow catcher Salvador Perez.

In case you forgot, we saw the hair flip last year during a Royals game against the Detroit Tigers:

More than anything, let’s remember this: Butera is hitting .429 with an on-base-plus slugging percentage of 1.214.
