Former Royal Mark Teahen reportedly retires and there is sadness on Twitter
Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reported Monday that former Royals third baseman/outfielder Mark Teahen had retired.
Teahen, who played with the Royals from 2005-’09, hit .269 with 67 home runs and 332 RBIs in 676 games in Kansas City.
While the news didn’t send shockwaves through baseball, there was a fair amount of sadness from Royals fans.
Happy retirement to @ESPY_TEAHEN. You will always be one of my favorite all time royals.
— Lucas Snyder (@HappyGilmore169) December 15, 2014Mark Teahen reitred today. Seems like it was just yesterday he was playing every position for the Royals
— Ronnie Lozano (@QuartoQuatro) December 15, 2014Enjoy retirement @ESPY_TEAHEN always enjoyed how you played the game.
— Thomas (@tommynachoes) December 15, 2014Mark Teahen's .517 SLG in 2006 is the highest SLG by a Royals player in the last decade for a player with at least 300 PA.
— Royals Review (@royalsreview) December 15, 2014@ESPY_TEAHEN Mark, don't retire. The #Royals still need a right fielder.

— Matt Z (@mzehren0) December 15, 2014It's pretty crappy for the Cubs and Jon Lester to take the spotlight away from Mark Teahen Retirement Day.
— Christopher J Boudi (@chrisboudi) December 15, 2014Mark Teahen is my favorite not very good major leaguer of all time. I hope he gets a job in broadcasting now that he's officially retired.
