Once upon a time, Royals fans blasted team for signing Kendrys Morales
Kendrys Morales is leading the Royals in RBIs and slugging percentage this season, and he has been an important part of the offense.
Don’t you wish you could go way back in time to the year 2014 and see what people said about the Royals’ decision to have Morales replace Billy Butler as the team’s designated hitter?
Thanks to Twitter, you can!
The reaction to the news that the Royals had signed Morales as a free agent was not good (although there were some positive remarks). Here are some of those tweets (and we can all have a good laugh):*
*If one of these is yours, then hey, we all have tweets we regret.
Kendrys Morales, is the Juan Gonzalez signing in 2004 all over again....ugh. #Royals
— Justin Colgan (@realjayscribz) December 11, 2014 Hey Dayton, can we trade Kendrys Morales for Billy Butler now? #Underwhelming isn't even the word...
— Gavin Hull (@GavHull) December 11, 2014 Hmmm, Kendrys Morales is our big signee so far??? C'mon management.... #Royals
— Devan Zwygart (@DZwii7) December 11, 2014 Really Dayton Moore that's the best you can do Kendrys Morales?
— JD Putnam (@THE_jdputnam) December 11, 2014 Aren't Kendrys Morales and Billy Butler the same player? #Royals
— Dirk Chatelain (@dirkchatelain) December 11, 2014 If my money went to Kendrys Morales, than I would like a refund. Give me my money back. #Royals
— Brett Rasdall (@BrettRasdall) December 11, 2014 Kendrys Morales to the Royals? Yuck.
— Lee Leslie (@leeleslie) December 11, 2014 Kendrys Morales was the best the #Royals could do? #FeelsLikeDejaVu
— Ken Davis (@Kendavis55) December 11, 2014 Saying this now: If the Royals pick up their part of Kendrys Morales' third-year option, they're dumber than they were to sign him.
— Brian (@sportsmatters) December 11, 2014 With the signing of Kendrys Morales, I already miss @BillyButlerOAK. Country Kitchen is statistically better in every category except SLG%
— Jake Hunter (@JakeMHunter) December 11, 2014 How does Kendrys Morales stay in the league?
— Ryan Sarf (@ChiefSarf) December 11, 2014 Kendrys Morales: 218/.274/.338- 2/17.5 Chris Johnson: .263/.292/.361- 3/23.5 CJ is also younger, mashes lefties, & can sort of play defense
— Dayton from Nebraska (@BravesAmerica) December 11, 2014 Hey @Royals, I'm pretty sure Kendrys Morales is even slower than Billy Butler was #hardtofathom
— Jeff Kreuser (@kroozer423) December 11, 2014 Huh.....Kendrys Morales for 8.5 mil per year for two years? Could have kept Billy for 10 mil per? #underwhelmed
— Jeff George (@J_G_E_O) December 11, 2014 Kendrys Morales is a poor mans Billy Butler... #downgrade
