Eric Berry effect? Some think his presence was boon to Chiefs’ defense

Chiefs fans got to see an old friend on Sunday.

Although he didn’t play in the game, safety Eric Berry was on the sidelines for the Chiefs’ 26-15 win over the Raiders on Sunday. Berry suffered an Achilles injury in the season opener at New England and won’t return to the field this season.

But on Sunday, Berry was at the Chiefs game and he spoke to the team before kickoff.

Then a funny thing happened: the Chiefs defense didn’t allow a point through the first three quarters and muzzled Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

It was the first time this season that the Chiefs held an opponent scoreless heading into the fourth quarter. Coincidence? Some fans didn’t think so.
