Hall of Famer says Chiefs’ Alex Smith will be benched
The calls for rookie quarterback Patrick Mahomes have grown louder.
While Chiefs coach Andy Reid on Sunday said he has no plans to make a change at quarterback in the wake of his team’s fifth loss in six games, former NFL receiver Cris Carter believes a change is coming.
Cris Carter, the Pro Football Hall of Famer, tweeted after the Chiefs’ 16-10 loss to the Bills at Arrowhead Stadium that Alex Smith’s time as a starter is coming to an end.
Carter tweeted: “Alex Smith has thrown his last pass as a KC Chiefs”

Carter is on Fox Sports’ “First Things First” with Nick Wright, the former Kansas City radio personality. Wright also thinks the Chiefs should give Mahomes a shot.
“For my KC folks: It’s time for Patrick Mahomes. Enough is enough,” Wright wrote.
