For Pete's Sake

Fans (and one national writer) wonder if Chiefs should play Patrick Mahomes

Neither the Chiefs nor Giants managed to reach double-digits in points in regulation on a windy Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The Chiefs ended up losing 12-9 in overtime, and quarterback Alex Smith had some off-target throws on the day. Smith did have a few big runs, but he completed 27 of 40 passes for 230 yards and two interceptions.

Most importantly: the Chiefs didn’t score a touchdown. Because of that, there were more than a few calls for Patrick Mahomes to get some playing time.

Not everyone wants Mahomes to take over full time, but some wondered if he should at least start to get a little work.
