There were reports of ice on Arrowhead Stadium field, but it seems fine now
Here is an unexpected wrinkle for Thursday night’s AFC West showdown between the Chiefs and Oakland Raiders:
Ice.
A check of the field at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday morning found that ice had formed under the tarp. That’s according to NFL Network reporter Courtney Fallon:
Just spoke to #Chiefs grounds crew. Heaters were installed underneath Arrowhead turf in April, but an ice layer froze under tarp overnight. pic.twitter.com/aXhnE8MlLa

Gradually grooming the "ice flash" throughout the day, while temps remain in 20s. Turf heaters are on, but everything is still frozen.

It’s supposed to be sunny the rest of the day, which should help the situation, although temperatures are not expected to climb above the freezing mark.
KCTV reported that during the offseason, heated pipes were expected to be installed underneath the playing field at Arrowhead Stadium, which should also help with the ice.
The NFL Network reported that the ice on the playing surface is “not deemed a serious threat to game-time field conditions.”
However, these tweets make you think everything is going to be fine:

Right now a corner of the field at Arrowhead is icy, but the field should be in great... https://t.co/hN3S5LYnYs pic.twitter.com/5rUXIoriFw
