Missouri

TABLE ROCK: 64 degrees, clear, near normal. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: Topwater Whopper Ploppers and Spro Rats early off main-lake flats; smallmouth bass also excellent on Ned Rigs on flat, gravel flats less than 10 feet of watter; spotted bass also excellent on swimbaits for suspended fish along main-lake bluff ends.

LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 64 degrees, murky on the upper end, clearing near dam, 2 feet low. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: Crappies fair on jigs, minnows in 10 to 12 feet of water in brush; crappies good on jigs, minnows in Indian Creek and Gravois areas along spawning banks; bass good on plastic lizards, jigs, topwater lures along docks; catfish good on cut bait in 15 to 20 feet of water off main-lake points.

NORFORK: 67 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: STR Outfitters reports: Walleyes fair to good on Rapalas at night in the Big Creek area; stripers fair on topwater lures.

REED AREA: 60 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: Bass good on plastic baits near brush; channel catfish fair on cut bait, worms; crappies good on tube jigs, minnows near brush and along weed lines; bluegills and redear sunfish good on worms.

SMITHVILLE: 64 degrees, clear on the main lake, murky in the creek arms, 4 feet high. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: Bass poor to fair on plastic baits on spawning banks; crappies poor (rapid rise in water level and murky conditions have slowed fishing); channel catfish excellent on night crawlers, dip baits where there is inflow; white bass fair on a variety of baits along face of the dam .

JACOMO: 62 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Channel catfish fair to good on night crawlers, cut bait, hot dogs in coves; bluegills good on wax worms, red wigglers; crappies poor to fair.

LONGVIEW: 56 degrees, murky, 1 foot high. Outlook: Longview Marina reports: Crappies good on jigs, minnows along the banks and off the marina docks; bass good on spinnerbaits, crankbaits, plastic baits in the shallows in the coves; channel catfish good on prepared baits, worms, liver in the shallows; walleyes fair on night crawlers, minnows in the brush.

TRUMAN: 64 degrees, muddy on upper lake, clearing toward the dam, 4 feet high. Outlook: Steve Blake Guide Service reports: Crappies good on jigs 8 to 12 feet down in 10 to 15 feet of water in the brush (fish are postspawn); largemouth bass fair to good on spinnerbaits, buzzbaits in flooded willows; catfish very good on cut shad in 3 to 10 feet of water on the flats. Below the dam: wipers, crappies catfish fair.

BULL SHOALS: Mid 60s, clear, near normal. Outlook: Buck Creek Marina reports: Bass good on grubs in 5 to 10 feet of water along banks; crappies good on minnows in 15 to 20 feet of water; walleyes fair on night crawlers on bottom bouncers trolled in 25 feet.

STOCKTON: 63 degrees, clear, 3 feet high. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: Bass fair on jigs off secondary points and in coves; crappies fair trolling Bandit crankbaits, jigs 15 feet down in 30 feet of water; walleyes very good on jigs with night crawlers in 6 to 20 feet of water off main-lake points; catfish good on night crawlers at the inflows.

TANEYCOMO: Clear, low power generation. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: Below Fall Creek: rainbow trout fair on air-inflated night crawlers, Power Bait, dark-colored jigs. minnows. Trophy Area: Trout good on zebra midges, micro jigs under floats.

POMME DE TERRE: 65 degrees, clearing, 4 feet high. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: Bass fair on crankbaits in 4 to 6 feet of water; crappies, walleyes poor to fair trolling crankbaits in 10 feet of water.

BLUE SPRINGS: 61 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Crappies fair on minnows, jigs in main-lake brush; channel catfish fair to good on worms, minnows, goldfish in coves; hybrids fair on Mepps spinners, Rooster Tails near the Blow Hole.

Kansas

COFFEY COUNTY: Low 70s on the main lake, clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Coffey County reports: Smallmouth bass excellent on Ned Rigs, jigs along riprap: white bass, wipers good on Roster Tails, finesse baits in rocky areas; largemouth bass, crappies, channel catfish fair.

WYANDOTTE: 66 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Wyandotte Boats reports: Crappies good on jigs, minnows from the bank to 8 feet of water; channel catfish good on livers, night crawlers in the creeks and along the banks on the main lake; largemouth bass good on plastic baits in the shallows.

WILSON: 58 degrees, clear, 10 feet low. Outlook: Knothead’s reports: Walleyes good on jigs with night crawlers in 8 to 30 feet of water; bass good on plastic baits, minnows in coves; stripers fair on Flukes.

CLINTON: Mid 60s, muddy, 8 feet high. Outlook: Don and Tom’s Bait and Tackle reports: Crappies fair on minnows in 8 to 12 feet of water along dam.

TUTTLE CREEK: 62 degrees, muddy, 10 feet high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: Catfish good on cut shad on the north end; crappies poor to fair on jigs, minnows.

PERRY: Low 60s, murky, 9 feet high. Outlook: Don and Tom’s Bait and Tackle reports: Channel catfish good on cut bait; crappies fair on jigs, minnows in clearer water.

MELVERN: 62 degrees, clear, 5.61 feet high. Outlook: Melvern Lake Marina reports: All species poor to fair (fishing has slowed due to the rise in water).

LaCYGNE: 68 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Linn County Parks reports: Crappies, white bass fair; channel catfish fair (but mostly small) along banks.

SHAWNEE MISSION: 65 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: Bass fair on spinnerbaits along south shore; catfish fair on liver, dough bait in shallows in evening; crappies fair on jigs, minnows along brush and new structure along north shore.

KILL CREEK: 63 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: Bass fair on spinnerbaits, plastic baits in shallows; catfish fair on dough bait, liver in the evening; crappies fair on minnows along tree lines.

EL DORADO: 61 degrees, muddy, near normal. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: Crappies fair on jigs in 8 to 12 feet of water in the brush (fish are post-spawn); bass good on crankbaits; wipers fair on jigs off points.

MILFORD: Low 60s, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: Crappies fair on jigs in 4 to 6 feet of water; smallmouth bass good on plastic baits along rocky banks; catfish good while crappie fishing.

POMONA: Mid-60s, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Lighthouse Bay Marina reports: Crappies fair on jigs, minnows along brushy banks in the afternoon; white bass good in the Dragoon arm.

HILLSDALE: 62 degrees, murky, near normal. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: Crappies good on minnows in 6 to 10 feet of water; largemouth bass fair to good on spinnerbaits; walleyes poor to fair (fish are post-spawn).

GLEN ELDER: Mid 60s, fairly clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: Walleyes, white bass poor to fair along south side at Sandy Beach and the bluffs.

Brent’s best bet

Coffey County Lake is the place to go. The fishing for smallmouth bass has been excellent, with large numbers of fish being caught on Ned Rigs. The action for white bass and hybrids also has been good, with fish biting on Rooster Tails.
