Chiefs sign free agent cornerback Damond Smith
The Chiefs have signed free agent cornerback Damond Smith, who spent part of the 2013 season with the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League. Smith, 5-11, 185, began his college career at Western Michigan before transferring to South Alabama after the 2010 season.
The Chiefs were looking for depth at cornerback due to hamstring injuries to DeMarcus Van Dyke, David Van Dyke, and possible head injury suffered by Phillip Gaines.
The signing of Smith brings the Chiefs back to the limit of 90 players in camp.
