The Chiefs signed free-agent cornerback Kevin Short, the team announced Friday.

Short, who is 6 foot 2 and 190 pounds, played at Fort Scott Community College in 2012. He was a redshirt at Kansas in 2013, but was dismissed from the Jayhawks before appearing in a game in 2014.

Short was eligible for the NFL Supplemental Draft, which was held Thursday, but he was not selected.

In a corresponding move, the Chiefs released defensive back Kenneth Perry, who played last fall at UNLV.
