Salvador Perez climbs list of Royals with most All-Star game starts
Catcher Salvador Perez and first baseman Eric Hosmer were the top vote-getters at their positions and will start for the American League team in the All-Star Game on July 12 in San Diego. For Perez, it will be his third start. Only George Brett has more starts among Royals players. Hosmer will be making his first start.
With Perez and Hosmer voted into the AL starting lineup, the Royals are expected to have multiple starters for the fifth time in club history.
In addition, Perez became the third Royal to lead the American League in most votes received, joining Brett in 1981 and Bo Jackson in 1989.
Here is the history of Royals in the All-Star starting lineup. It does not include players who were voted into the lineup but replaced because of injury.
