Watch Royals roll out the new grass on the Kauffman Stadium field
Royals head groundskeeper Trevor Vance was a happy man on Monday.
After months of photos and videos of desolation of the Kauffman Stadium field, the grass arrived. The Royals replaced the field — and much of what was below it — after the 2017 season ended. There was mostly dirt for the last two months, along with a number of construction vehicles.
It’s all part of the massive overhaul of the field, which is being replaced for the first time since 1994.
Vance tweeted a photo of the grass being installed with this message: “She has arrived!! Shoutout to Green Valley Turf!! This Bluegrass is Legit! It will be Raised Royal! #greensideup”
