One Kansas football player has been dismissed from the team and another suspended, KU coach David Beaty announced Monday.

Eric Rivers, a cornerback who redshirted last season, is no longer with the team, while freshman linebacker Kendall Duckworth was suspended after both were arrested early Monday, according to the Douglas County booking log.

“I am aware of the situation and am in the process of gathering all of the facts,” Beaty announced in a statement. “Eric Rivers has been dismissed from the program for a violation of team rules. For the time being, Kendall Duckworth has been suspended from all team activities.”

According to KU Public Safety Office records at crimereports.com, Rivers and Duckworth were arrested in connection with a robbery when a “subject forcibly took money from the victim.” According to the report, the loss was $40, and the case was sent to the Douglas County prosecutor for review.

Rivers also was arrested on suspicion of sexual battery and criminal restraint, according to the report, after he was accused of inappropriately touching a woman and preventing her from leaving a room. That case is still open.

Duckworth played seven games last season for KU, making three tackles.
