Former KU forward Cliff Alexander lands with Blazers, who also sign former Mizzou guard Phil Pressey
After playing for the Brooklyn Nets during the NBA’s summer league, former Kansas forward Cliff Alexander has joined the Portland Trail Blazers, Alexander announced Friday on his Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Portland also announced Friday it had signed former Missouri point guard Phil Pressey, who had played two seasons with the Boston Celtics after going undrafted in 2013.
The terms of both contracts were not immediately available. Alexander, who went undrafted in the NBA Draft in late June, averaged 6.2 points and 6.0 rebounds while playing 23.4 minutes per game in the Orlando leg of the summer league.
Alexander, a Chicago native, averaged 7.1 points and 5.3 rebounds while playing 17 minutes per game as a freshman at KU, a season that was derailed by an NCAA investigation into his amateur status. Alexander, a former top-five recruit, elected to leave Kansas after one season and declared for the NBA Draft. He didn’t hear his name called on draft night.
Now, it appears, he will have an opportunity to begin his career with Portland.
God has still found ways to bless me through the struggle. I am officially apart of the NBA & Trailblazer family pic.twitter.com/O69Jj5frhM
