World University Games schedule for KU men’s basketball team announced
Brace yourselves for some late-night — and early-morning — basketball during the month of July.
When Kansas heads to South Korea to represent the United States at the World University Games, the time difference will play a major factor in the viewing habits of fans back home.
The United States men’s team will open the pool play portion of the tournament against Turkey at 10 p.m. Central time July 3, which translates to noon the next day (July 4) at Dongkang Gymnasium in Gwanju.
Team USA will then play Brazil at 6:30 a.m. Central on July 5, which will be 8:30 p.m. on the same day in Korea.
In all, the United States, which is in Pool D, will play five pool play games in a six-day span, with a day off on July 6. Each team is guaranteed to play at least eight games during the tournament.
If the United States finishes in the top two of their pool, it will advance to the medal round. If it fails to finish in the top two, it will finish out of the tournament in a consolation bracket.
The United States will also face Chile, Serbia and Switzerland during pool play. Here is the rest of the schedule for the United States, which was released Friday.
