One of Kansas football’s top receiving threats is no longer with the program.

LaQuvionte Gonzalez, who was KU’s second-leading wideout last season with 729 yards, has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules, a KU Athletics official confirmed Sunday afternoon.

Gonzalez, a transfer from Texas A&M, was expected to be one of the Jayhawks’ top offensive threats in his senior season. His 62 catches last year were second most on the team. In addition, Pro Football Focus credited him with 26 broken tackles, which was the top mark of any Big 12 receiver.

KU still has depth at the position. Steven Sims returns after catching 72 passes for 859 yards with seven touchdowns, while Daylon Charlot is eligible this season after transferring from Alabama.
