Caitlin Clark's Honest Assessment of Raven Johnson After 6 Games

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark has seen enough from teammate Raven Johnson to make an assessment of the rookie's early progress with the team.

Johnson has played in all six games for the Fever thus far. The No. 10 overall pick of the 2026 WNBA Draft is currently averaging 3.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 12.5 minutes off the bench.

Johnson's numbers do not exactly pop out, but Clark is more than happy with the transition she's seen from the 23-year-old.

"Yeah, I mean, she brings energy every single day, and I think it best replicates itself when she's playing defense," Clark said of Johnson. "She's tenacious, she's fiery, she's competitive. Whatever the coaches ask her, she's going to do, and she's been doing it really well.

"She's been learning a lot. She asks a lot of really great questions. So I think just the positive vibes that she's brought in here has been a really fun addition for us. So super proud of her, and it's been cool to see how much better she's already gotten in the six games that we've played."

As Clark pointed out, Johnson's best asset on the basketball court is her defensive prowess. The former South Carolina Gamecocks star is the reigning SEC Defensive Player of the Year, and the Fever have already seen some early returns in terms of Johnson elevating the team's defense as a whole.

Clark singled out Johnson's performance against the Golden State Valkyries on Friday. The two-time NCAA champion registered seven points, two rebounds and two assists in 15 minutes of action.

"She gave us some really big minutes there in the fourth quarter versus the Valkyries the other night," Clark continued. "So we'll continue to need more of that, but she's been doing great."

Johnson's next chance to show out will be on Thursday in a rematch against Golden State. If she keeps up this pace, it should not be long before the 5-foot-8 guard becomes a true impact player for the Fever.
