Area athletes earn honors in Class 2 and 3 state meets

A number of area track and field athletes earned all-state at the MSHSAA Class 2 and Class 3 meets at Jefferson City's Adkins Stadium over the weekend.

The Lamar boys finished eighth in Class 3 with 31 points, with most points coming via discus and the shot put.

Terren Williams was crowned champion in the discus Friday with a 56.36-meter toss. Logan Martin was fifth (48.27 meters) in the event. On Saturday, Martin finished third in the shot put (17.35 meters), and Williams was fourth (16.47 meters).

On Saturday, Lamar's 4x200 meter relay team (Luke Kingsley, Keanen McManis, Aydin Jones and Garin Schneider) finished fifth (1:28.39), and Schneider was seventh in the 200-meter dash (21.9 seconds).

Seneca's Kylon Davidson was third in the javelin with a 50.88-meter toss Saturday.

Class 3 girls

In Class 3 girls action, Kaylea Holmes accounted for all of East Newton's points. She finished fourth in the discus Saturday with a 38.74-meter toss and was fifth in the shot put (11.43 meters) Friday.

Seneca's 4x400 meter relay team (Savannah Johnson, Jacie Bard, Hadley Hilburn and Anna Adkins) finished fourth with a time of 4:05.4 Saturday.

New Heights Christian Academy's Lakyn Lawrence (38.72 meters) was fifth in the discus Saturday.

Lamar's Ana Nguigi (36.1 meters) was seventh in the discus on Saturday, and the Tigers 4x100 meter relay team (Nevaeh Thomas, Taryn Querry, Brenna Morey and Carly Dunham) finished eighth with a time of 50.56 seconds.

Class 2 boys

In Class 2 boys, Sarcoxie's Gatlon Malotte (4.25 meters) won the pole vault Friday and was third in the 110-meter hurdles Saturday with a time of 15.01 seconds.

McAuley Catholic's Trae Veer was fourth in the 800-meter run (1:57.33) Saturday and finished fifth in the 400-meter dash (50.5 seconds).

Pierce City's Eli Genzler (39.08 seconds) was third in the 300-meter hurdles Saturday, and Brock Flehmer (3.85 meters) was seventh in the pole vault Friday.

Class 2 girls

In Class 2 girls, Pierce City's Liliana Lasker finished fifth in the 400-meter dash (59.2 seconds) Saturday. Pierce City's Emma Hunt was sixth in the 3,200-meter run (11:50.06) Saturday and finished seventh in the 1,600-meter event Friday with a time of 5:20.27. Paige Fenske was sixth in the triple jump Saturday (10.86 meters) and eighth in the pole vault (3.05 meters) and the long jump (5.04 meters) Friday.

Sarcoxie's Alexis Lett (1.55 meters) tied for fourth in the high jump Friday.
