Lady Spartans Season Closes with Regional Championship Loss to Bishop Carroll
The Lady Spartans' soccer season came down to a do-or-die game in the regional championship game against Bishop Carroll. After winning their first regional game since 2009, the Lady Spartans looked to carry momentum into enemy territory at Bishop Carroll.
The game started slowly as neither team could get anything going through the first ten or so minutes of the first half. Then Bishop Carroll opened the floodgates in the 15th minute with the first goal of the game. It quickly escalated to 2-0 seven minutes later, and then to 3-0 another minute later. In the final stretch of the first half, Bishop Carroll tacked on their fourth goal of the game to seal the game even further heading into halftime.
Coming out of the break, the Lady Spartans could not stop the Bishop Carroll attack as they added three more goals before the end of the game to secure a final score of 7-0.
The loss officially ends the season for the Lady Spartans, and it was a successful one that saw them complete both of their main goals. They wanted to reach the ten-win plateau and to win a regional game. They end the year with an 11-7 record and got their first regional victory since 2009 to close the book on the year.
