Fever's Aliyah Boston Shares Update Before Fire Game

Indiana Fever center Aliyah Boston missed her first WNBA game on Sunday after being ruled out against the Seattle Storm due to a lower leg injury. It's an injury she sustained on Friday in the third quarter against the Washington Mystics and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Despite her absence, the Fever took care of business at home against the Storm, defeating Seattle 89-78 and advancing to 2-2. While the roster still boasts stars such as guard Caitlin Clark and guard Kelsey Mitchell, there's no doubt that Boston is wanted back out on the court as soon as possible with an upcoming matchup against the Portland Fire.

After missing her first game, she was able to participate in practice on Tuesday, with hopes of suiting up against the Fire. When speaking to Chloe Peterson of the IndyStar, Boston revealed that things are trending in the right direction.

"'Everything's great, I'm feeling great,' Aliyah Boston says at practice today," Peterson wrote via an X post. "Says there wasn't any specific moment on Friday, but general discomfort that prompted her going out, and it's a continuation of her lower leg injury that she'll have to manage."

While the season is still young, the three-time All-Star has continued to produce at a high level. Through three games, she is averaging 12 points, five rebounds and two assists. She is also shooting 48% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the three-point line.

After finishing sixth in MVP voting and earning All-WNBA Second-Team honors last season, the 24-year-old has established herself as one of the league's top young stars.

Getting Boston back on the court as soon as possible is crucial to the Fever's hopes of making a third-straight playoff appearance. Tip-off between Indiana and Portland is Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
