Chiefs-Bills Thanksgiving Day Game Could Make NFL History
Despite the uncertain status of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who's recovering from a torn ACL, the Kansas City Chiefs were given six primetime games by the NFL schedule makers next season.
Among those nationally televised games, the one that had most fans talking on social media was KC's Thanksgiving Day game against the AFC rival Buffalo Bills.
And according to ESPN, that game - in addition to being among the most anticipated of the season - could make NFL history.
"The Chiefs and Bills will play on Thanksgiving Day, meaning a possible Patrick Mahomes-Josh Allen matchup 🔥 Should it happen, it would be the first Thanksgiving Day matchup between starting QBs who are both former MVPs 👀," the ESPN Insights account posted on X.
Some believes Mahomes will be ready to play in time for Week 1's matchup against the Denver Broncos on "Monday Night Football." Others are convinced he'll miss a few games at the start of the year given how late in the season he suffered his ACL injury last year.
In their careers, Mahomes and Allen have a 5-5 record against each other with Allen holding the advantage in regular-season meetings (5-1) and Mahomes dominating in the postseason (4-0).
The QB duo have also put up similar head-to-head stats in the regular season.
Allen has completed 64.2% of his passes for 1,534 yards, 11 touchdowns, three interceptions, and a 99.4 passer rating. Conversely, Mahomes completed 61.7% of his passes for 1,552 yards passing, 10 touchdowns, eight interceptions, and an 81.6 passer rating.
