Victor Wembanyama's Comments After Spurs' Win Show Pure Class
The future in San Antonio has arrived, and Victor Wembanyama is making sure it looks familiar in all the right ways. On a night that blended history with promise, the Spurs' rising star delivered a performance that immediately placed him alongside franchise royalty. For Wembanyama, however, the moment was about something much more comforting than pressure.
The French star made an incredible playoff debut in the Spurs' 111–98 Game 1 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. His 35 points set a new franchise record for the most points in a playoff debut. Earlier, Tim Duncan's 32 points against the Phoenix Suns in 1998 held the record.
Victor Wembanyama was asked by @ramonashelburne whether he feels the weight of following in the footsteps of Sours legends like Tim Duncan and David Robinson.

Following his first playoff win, Wembanyama was asked if he feels the weight of following in the footsteps of Spurs legends like Duncan and David Robinson. "I wouldn't say weight", responded the 22-year-old. "I would say it feels safe. It feels like if you trip, there's a lot of hands that's ready to catch you".
Instead of taking credit for his work ethic, Wemby took time to credit his predecessors. He played with the composure of a veteran against Portland, not like someone stepping into his first playoff game. The Trail Blazers had no answer for his length or versatility, as he controlled the tempo on both ends.
While Wemby's debut was the highlight of the night, his classy comments continue to steal the headlines. His message clearly indicates that the MVP candidate isn't just chasing greatness. Instead, Wembanyama is embracing the foundation of the franchise.
